A Local's Guide
Glebe Cottage is around 1.5 miles from Alex James' farm in Kingham, home to The Big Feastival — close enough to walk to, with a proper bed, bathroom and kitchen to come home to afterwards.
The Big Feastival takes over Alex James' farm in Kingham every August Bank Holiday weekend — food, music and family entertainment on one of the prettiest sites of any UK festival. If camping isn't for everyone in your group, Glebe Cottage is about as close as you can get to a proper bed instead.
Founded by Blur bassist and cheesemaker Alex James, The Big Feastival is a food and music festival held on his working farm in Kingham, Oxfordshire, over the August Bank Holiday weekend. It mixes headline music acts with a serious food line-up — chefs, producers, cookery demonstrations — alongside family entertainment, making it as much a food festival as a music one.
Kingham is around 1.5 miles from the cottage — close enough to walk in good weather, or a very short drive. Kingham also has its own train station, under 2 miles away, with direct trains from London Paddington, if some of your group are travelling up separately.
Not everyone wants to camp for a whole festival weekend, especially with children or older family members along. Staying at Glebe Cottage means a real bed, a proper shower, and a kitchen for the mornings and evenings either side of the festival, while still being close enough that you're not losing half the day to travel. It's also dog friendly, if you'd rather not board the dog for the weekend — see our dog friendly guide.
Because the festival draws a lot of visitors to the area, dates over the Big Feastival weekend do carry a premium rate, the same as they would at any accommodation nearby — check live availability and pricing for the exact dates and current rates.
If you're coming up for the festival, it's worth building in time either side for the rest of the area — Bledington's own Kings Head Inn is a two-minute walk from the cottage, and Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Norton and Burford are all a short drive away. See our full local guide for more.
Festival dates and line-up are set by the organisers each year — check the official Big Feastival site for confirmed details before booking travel.
